HSBC Private Equity has sold M & M Medical, the Stockholm-based medical services contract company, to ISS CarePartner AB, a subsidiary of the Copenhagen and London listed support services group ISS A/S.

Founded by Mikael Lönn in 1986, M & M Medical has become one of the leading providers of acute care and radiology services in Sweden. The company provides a high quality, low cost service to those covered by the State Insurance Scheme. Its highly efficient facilities have helped to significantly cut treatment waiting times.

M & M Medical provides a range of healthcare services in Stockholm and Uppsala. The company's services include the management and operation of four local hospitals with one new local hospital to be opened shortly. It also operates five radiology units, including four MRI cameras, and undertakes ophthalmology and hearing aid tests.

Since M & M Medical's acquisition by HSBC Private Equity in 1999 the company has achieved double digit growth. It has continued to develop and strengthen its position within the Swedish healthcare market, adding new healthcare services to its program and achieving ISO 9002 certification. The company has 360 employees and turnover for 2001 is expected to be approximately SEK400 million.
